1 : 1 - in the end, the result counts

Italy equalized against Croatia in the last second and secured their spot in the round of 16. As an Italian, you are happy with the result on the scoreboard. However, I feel for Croatia. The draw in yesterday's game likely means Croatia is out of UEFA EURO 2024, just because they conceded a goal shortly before the end. What a disappointment.

In the end, the result counts, but it's not that simple. The reasons for Croatia's potential elimination must be looked at before the game and during its course, not just at the result.

Results are outcomes of certain actions, activities, or decisions. They look back. They are not suitable for understanding the reasons for business performance or for making future predictions. Despite this, employees still get target agreements, while investors and managers rely on projected business figures.

It is much more reasonable to focus on performance, measure it, learn from it, and improve. Looking at performance is future oriented. Looking at results is like looking in the rearview mirror. Even though the result counts in the end, a company should focus on performance.

Meanwhile, we leave it to the football experts to analyze why yesterday's game between Croatia and Italy ended in a draw.
